If you are interested in joining the club,

you can join our waiting list by emailing:

Wait Line Policy:

  • If you are 10 minutes late for your slot time, you forfeit your slot and it will be filled by a member standing in line.
  • The wait line will line up in the parking lot along the building.  It is first come first served for open lanes.  You must have filled out the COVID Health Survey before coming to the club and standing in line.  If the survey has not been filled out, you will be asked to go to the end of the line.
  • There is no guarantee that you will be placed into a lane just for standing in line.

We are open for lap swimming!  In order to participate, you must have paid your 2021 Annual Dues.  Be on the lookout for emails from SignUp Genius, or simply click on the following link:

Updated Health Order Guidance:

We still have to follow Alameda County Health Department Guidelines.  Alameda has already come out to say that they will follow California's Blueprint for a Safer Economy.  With that in mind, we have pulled the most recent Guidance for Gyms and Fitness Centers.  Chabot Swim Club falls under this guidance.  We wanted to let everyone know the requirements that we have to abide by.

Aquatic Venues Section States:

  • For outdoor pools, face coverings must be worn when out of the water, unless exempt under the CDPH guidance.
  • Consider implementing reservations for pool use or implementing other mechanisms to support physical distancing. This could include reserving full-lanes for individual lap swimming, maintain swimmers in alternating lanes, and half-lanes for individual household use.
  • Ensure that lifeguards who are actively lifeguarding are not also expected to monitor handwashing, use of cloth face coverings, or physical distancing. Assign this monitoring responsibility to another worker.
  • Aquatic venues should avoid activities that promote group gatherings and should be aware of state and local policies on youth and adult sports and gathering requirements to determine if aquatic fitness classes, swim lessons, swim team practices, swim meets, or pool parties can be held.

Alameda County had released an updated guidance that includes the following wording:

  • The following areas must remain closed:
    • Common areas, including snack bars, and lounging or sunbathing areas.
  • Designate a staff person to monitor COVID-19 safety. All shared outdoor pools or wading pools except for unstaffed multi-unit residential pools or wading pools (see section 3), must have at least one staff person, in addition to a lifeguard, on duty at all times to make sure that the State and County Orders, and this guidance is adhered to by staff and by swimmers. Lifeguards should not be expected to enforce COVID-19 safety standards with swimmers.
  • Create a system for reserving a timed amount of space in the swimming pool or wading pool that factors in the number of participants from the same household or living unit. Inform swimmers ahead of time that they will be expected to bring their own towels from home, that there will be no shared equipment, and encourage them to bring their own water bottles.
  • Restrict the use of shared furniture including tables, chairs, loungers, etc. on the pool deck. Shared furniture should not be used for gathering/congregating purposes, but for setting down their belongings or to sit and remove/put on clothing etc. If the use of shared furniture is allowed for caregivers, coaches, aides, and swimmers, frequently disinfect them.
  • Restrict all activity other than swimming in the pool area, except for coaches, caregivers or aides of swimmers. Coaches, caregivers or aides should be included in the number of persons on the reservation.

Due to our furniture being metal, hard to wipe down, and wanting to save costs on cleaning supplies, we have chosen instead to allow for one parent or guardian to bring a chair to sit on while the rest of the family is in the pool.

We are following the County’s Health Department guidelines and will open accordingly with each weekly update as soon as possible. We have found that people are still being fined $1,000 per person for violations to the order. We are taking this situation very seriously.
